Kaduna LG Polls: APC Clears all 23 Chairmanship, 255 Councilorship Seats

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) sustained the winner-takes-all-culture characterizing this democracy, Saturday, October 19, 2024, when it won all 23 chairmanship and 255 councilorship seats in Saturday’s local government election conducted by the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KAD-SIECOM).

While declaring the results, the chairperson of the commission, Hajia Hajara Mohammed, disclosed that eight political parties participated in the voteing, with the APC clearing all the available seats.

Hajjia Mohammed listed the LGAs won by the APC as including: Birnin-Gwari, Chikun, Igabi, Ikara, Jaba, Jema’a, Kachia, Kaduna North, and Kaduna South.

Others are: Kagarko, Kajuru, Kaura, Kuaru, Kubau, Kudan, Lere, Makarfi, Sabon Gari, Sanga, Soba, Zango-Kataf and Zaria.

The State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, after casting his vote at LEA Kawo polling unit O47 in Kaduna North Local Government Area, expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the vote across the state.

He said the polls were generally free, fair, and peaceful, safe minor problems recorded in three polling units and wards, adding that the turnout across the 23 local government areas was satisfactory.

On its part, the leadership of the Inter-party Advisory Council (IPAC) Kaduna chapter described the election as largely peaceful and transparent despite the late arrival of voting materials in some places.
