The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, has attributed the latest collapse of the national electricity grid, the ninth this year, and the fourth within a month, to “a series of lines and generators tripping”.

The organization, in a release, said that data from the National Control Centre (NCC) revealed that a part of the grid was unaffected by the partial disturbance that caused all the electricity generation plants to shut down at around 1:52pm on Tuesday, November  5, 2024.

However, TCN’s general manager, Public Affairs, Ms. Ndidi Mbah, assured that “TCN engineers are already working to quickly restore bulk power supply to the states affected by the partial disturbance.”

She added that “presently, bulk power supply has been restored to Abuja, at 2.49pm, and we are gradually restoring to other parts of the country.

“We sincerely apologize for every inconvenience this may cause our electricity customers.”
