The Ijesa Digital Hub has announced the successful completion of the first stage of the Ijesa Tech Prize 2026, a flagship initiative of the Ijesa Digital Citizenship Programme designed to inspire young people to pursue careers in technology and empower the next generation of digital innovators in Ijesaland.

Sixty-five secondary schools across the five local government areas in Ijesaland participated in the maiden edition of the competition with students demonstrating their knowledge and aptitude through a written technology examination.
Following a rigorous assessment process, the top four schools from each participating local government area have qualified for the Stage Two Oral Tech Quiz Competition, bringing together 20 outstanding schools to compete for the coveted Ijesa Tech Prize title.
According to the release by the organisers, the Oral Tech Quiz Competition will hold as follows:

Venue: Ijesa Digital Hub, Olashore International School, Iloko-Ijesa, Osun State.
The event is expected to attract distinguished guests and stakeholders from within and outside Ijesaland, including: Dr. Wale Alonge, Vice President of IGAD North America; Dr. Kayode Dada; Mr. James Ajayi; and Chief Mrs. Dupe Ajayi-Gbadebo, Chief of Staff to the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, His Imperial Majesty, Owa Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, Ajimoko III, among other eminent personalities and community leaders.
The competition seeks to stimulate curiosity in science, technology, innovation, and digital skills among secondary school students while fostering critical thinking, creativity, and healthy academic competition.
The competition will culminate in the Ijesa Tech Prize Awards Ceremony, scheduled for Friday, 17th July, 2026, where outstanding students and schools will be recognized and rewarded.
The competition offers an exciting range of rewards, including training scholarships, cash prizes for outstanding students, and school development awards for the schools of the overall first, second, and third place winners.
Speaking on the initiative, the organisers noted that the Ijesa Tech Prize is more than a competition—it is a strategic investment in the future of Ijesaland by identifying promising young talents, exposing them to technology, and creating pathways for them to become innovators, entrepreneurs, and leaders in the digital economy.
