Uromi Killings: Police Officer, in Kaduna, Vows Revenge against Southerners in the North

A police officer attached to the Kaduna State Police Command, Hadaina Hussaini Dan-Taki, Tuesday, caused a stir and tension on social media with an inciting post on his Facebook in which he threatened reprisal attacks on southerners living in northern Nigeria sequel to the gruesome killing 16 hunters from the North  in Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo State.

The police operative, on Tuesday, posted a fiery comment on Facebook swearing by Almighty God that northerners would take decisive action against southerners in the region.

“I swear to Almighty God,” Dan-Taki wrote, “we must do something for you guys, have you forgotten all your brothers that are leaving here in the North make my word, after one week you shall see the result.”

Overwhelmed by mounting criticism to his fiery comment on social media, the police operative speedily changed his first name and restricted access to his Facebook page. He limited users’ ability to view his posts and comments.

For instance, an X user, Uche, who tweets as #UcheDIgboezeson shared a screenshot of Dan-Taki’s post, and tagged the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.

“#Princemoye1, take care of this sir,” Uche wrote, and Adejobi promptly responded, saying: “Noted for necessary action. Thanks.”

 

However, the police in Edo reacted swiftly to the unfortunate incident, arresting 14 suspects in connection with the hunters’ killing.

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, announced Monday that the suspects have been transferred to Abuja for further interrogation, as confirmed by.

Last Thursday, Nigerians were jolted with the sad news that 16 hunters of northern extraction had been ambushed and attacked by a mob at Uromi, Edo State, on their way to Kano for the Sallah celebrations.

The mob, according to reports, had searched the vehicle conveying the victims and guns were found. And they were murdered, sparking nationwide outrage and calls for swift justice.

Governor Okpebholo condemned the attack as unacceptable and vowed that those responsible would face the full wrath of the law.
