Ooni Denies Baba Ijesha’s Chieftaincy Title Claim
...As Palace says Monarch only gave him car
The palace of the Ooni of Ife has flat denied claims by actor, James Olarenwaju, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, that the paramount ruler had conferred with a chieftaincy title.
The Punch newspaper said the palace made the rebuttal In an interview that the the Ooni’s spokesperson, Moses Olafare granted its correspondent.
In the report, Olafae said though he was aware that Oba Adeyeye Eniyan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, gave the actor Yoruba actor a car, he knew nothing about any chieftaincy title.
“I am not aware of the chieftaincy title, but I am aware of the car,” Olafare told the Punch.
The Palace’s rebuttal came hot on the heels of a claim by Baba Ijesha, who announced on his Facebook page that the paramount ruler had honoured him following the birth of his so with several royal gifts, including a new car and a chieftaincy title following the birth of his son.
The Yoruba actor, who served term in jail for a sex offence, took to Facebook after visiting the Ooni and thanked the monarch profusely for the gifts which he described as a display of fatherly love and royal honour for him and his fashion-designer wife, Abiodun Tokunbo.

But while the Ooni’s spokesman maintained that while the monarch was known for gifting people with cars, he could not confirm Baba Ijesa ‘s claim of a chieftaincy title.
