Gunmen Attack Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Abduct Students

Less than a week after three of the students of Greenfield University, Kaduna, abducted by armed bandits were shot dead, gunmen, on Sunday, invaded the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, FUAM, Benue State, and kidnapped an unspecified number of students.

Spokesperson for FUAM, Rosemary Waku, confirmed the worrisome development on Monday through a press statement, disclosing that: “The University has reported the incident to the police and all relevant security agencies. The University has not heard anything from the students or their captors since the unfortunate incidence took place.”

The attack on FUAM is the sixth of such on schools this year, and three of them occurred in Kaduna State.

Like some yet-to-be identified gangsters did, last Tuesday night, when they invaded the Greenfield University, a private tertiary institution located at Kasarami village, off the Kaduna-Abuja Road, in Chikun LGA of Kaduna State, the bandits reportedly caused mayhem at FUAM campus, Makurdi,  shooting wildly and in virtually every direction before taking their victims away.

The  fate of the abducted FUAM students remained unknown Monday afternoon as there has been no official statement from the police.

Nigeria, in the eyes of the world, appears to be in a state of war as the problem of insecurity has engulfed virtually all parts of the country, even as security agents appear overwhelmed.
