Out of PDP, Gov. Adeleke Heads to Accord Party
Though the Osun State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr. Kolapo Alimi, has officially declared that Governor Ademola Adeleke who just resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, will announce his next political nest on December 13, 2025, The Crest can reveal that the dancing Governor will seek re-election on the platform of Accord Party, AP.
Governor Adeleke had, in a statement issued on Monday, announced that he had submitted his resignation letter to PDP executives in Sagba Abogunde, Ward 2, Ede North Local Government, since November 4, 2025.
But he did not disclose why he had to delay the announcement till now.
“The governor of Osun State and the Asiwaju of Ede has formally resigned his membership from the Peoples Democratic Party. The governor has done this and has written his resignation letter for quite a long time,” Alimi said.
Alimi then urged residents to remain calm and continue supporting the governor.
“It was long overdue,” the Commissioner continued. “We appreciate the people for their support, and we can only urge the people to continue to support the governor.
“Immediately I see many people around me, I will always be happy and be joyous,” he said, citing a Yoruba adage that literally translates to mean the people are the governor’s protectors.
However, a top member of the Governor’s political camp told The Crest that Governor Adeleke’s next political destination is the Accord Party.
“It is a done deal,” the Osun PDP stalwart told The Crest on Tuesday, craving anonymity because the Governor hasn’t “authorized any confirmation or denial for strategic reasons.
“But I can confirm to you that Governor Ademola Adeleke will seek re-election on the platform of Accord Party. We cannot leave one party riddled with chaos and join another one whose House is in tatters. We are joining Accord Party. We will contest the primary, get the ticket; and we will win re-election.”
