Peter Obi alleges threats to his Life, Says government is targeting opposition

Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has alleged that his life is under threat, claiming he is being deliberately targeted and frustrated by the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

Speaking during an interview on a podcast hosted by Chude Jideonwo, Obi said he believes the alleged actions against him have intensified, warning that he fears for his safety if the situation continues.

“The way they are going now, I might not be alive. I’m telling you. Every single thing I do for a living, this government is frustrating it. Deliberately so,” Obi said.

He further alleged that there is “a possibility” he may not survive if those responsible have the opportunity, claiming that he faces daily frustrations in carrying out activities he considers normal.

According to Obi, while the government does not openly acknowledge targeting him, he believes its influence can be seen in the challenges he encounters.

Obi also accused the administration of undermining opposition figures, alleging that he has been denied benefits and privileges to which he is entitled.

“The government is attacking everybody in opposition. I am being attacked personally. Even to provide me with things I am entitled to, not at all,” he stated.

The former Anambra State governor further claimed that many people are now reluctant to associate with him out of fear of possible victimization by the government.

As of the time of filing this report, the Presidency has not publicly responded to Obi’s allegations.
