    Aiyedatiwa Sacks Akeredolu’s Commissioners, Dissolves Ondo Executive Council

    Barely 24 days to the final funeral ceremonies of the late governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, the new governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has sacked all the state commissioners and dissolved the State Executive Council, with immediate effect.

    In a press release by Prince Ebenezar Adeniran, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Ondo State.

    all members of the Cabinet are to immediately hand over to the Permanent Secretaries or the most senior administrative officers in their respective offices.

    Also, all Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) and Special Assistants (SAs) are relieved of their duties, with immediate effect.

    All the affected officials are directed to hand over all government properties in their possession.

    The Governor thanks the affected officials for their services and contributions to the development of the State.

    Rivers LP Adopts PDP’s Fubara, Dissolves Exco

    The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Labour Party has dissolved the party’s state Executive Council in Rivers State with immediate effect over “gross anti-party activities and corruption in the management of Labour Party funds.”

    This followed the decision of the Rivers exco to adopt the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Siminialayi Fubara on Tuesday.

    National Chairman of the Labour Party, Barrister Julius Abure, announced the dissolution of the State Council in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.

    The party said it has lost confidence in the ability of the “compromised State Executive Council led by Mr Deinye Pepple” to lead the campaign for the gubernatorial and state House of Assembly elections this coming Saturday.

    The statement reads: “The national working committee has dissolved the Labour Party State Executive Council of Rivers State with immediate effect, for gross anti-party activities and corruption in the management of Labour Party funds.

    “The National Working Committee arising from an emergency meeting today in Abuja believes that it is in the interest of Labour Party and the Obidient movement in Rivers State that those who were at the helm of affairs in Rivers State when our presidential mandate was openly stolen in Rivers State should step aside until full investigation on what happened on that day is completed.

    “The National Working Committee has lost confidence in the ability of the compromised State Executive Council led by Mr Deinye Pepple to lead the campaign for the gubernatorial and State House of Assembly elections come March 11th.

    “The National Working Committee urges all Obidients in Rivers State to disregard every comment made by the disgraced State Chairman of the Labour Party, Deinye Pepple, on the election of March 11th and reiterates the full backing of the Labour Party on the candidacy of Comrade Beatrice Itubo of the Labour Party as the next Governor of Rivers State.

    “The National Working Committee, therefore, enjoins all Obidients to come out massively on March 11th to vote for Comrade Beatrice Itubo of Labour Party.”

    Sanwo-Olu Dissolves LASU Council,  Orders Fresh Selection Process for VC

    The Lagos State Governor Bababjide Sanwo-Olu has dissolved the Lagos State University (LASU).governing council as he orders a fresh selection process for the ninth Vice Chancellor (VC).

    Sanwo-Olu, acting on recommendations of the special visitation panel on the appointment of the VC, ordered the immediate dissolution of the LASU Governing Council and removal of the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council for flagrant violations of the extant laws and regulations of guiding the appointment of a VC.

    A statement Friday by the Commissioner for Information Gbenga Omotoso said Governor Sanwo-Olu also cancelled the second selection exercise for contravention of extant laws, breach of due process, failure and total disregard to follow its own laid down criteria guiding the appointment of VC.

    He added: “In due course, a new Governing Council for LASU will be constituted and which shall conduct a new process for the appointment of the ninth VC. Members of the Joint Council and the Senate Committee who participated in the two failed exercises of 2020 and 2021 are exempted from participating in the new exercise. The Acting VC and university management are hereby directed to elect new council members from the Senate.

    “The Registrar and Secretary to Council is to proceed on leave immediately till the process is ended having failed to advise the Joint Council and Senate Committee against taking decisions which were against the law during the two failed exercises. An Acting Registrar will superintend over the new exercise.

    “The Acting Vice-Chancellor is to forward to the Governor/Visitor through the Surrogate Council (Special Adviser on Education) the list of all Deputy Registrars to appoint an Acting Registrar for the university.

    “The Governor/Visitor, following the recommendation of the Special Visitation Panel, shall be setting up a full Visitation Panel for immediately.”

    FAYEMI DISSOLVES BOARDS OF AGENCIES, PARASTATALS

    Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi has ordered immediate dissolution of the boards of government agencies, parastatals and corporations in the state.

    Chairmen of the boards of these agencies are directed to hand over to the most senior officers in their respective agencies.

    A statement by Secretary to the State Government, Hon Biodun Oyebanji, on Friday said “the dissolution however does not affect the statutory boards”.

    Oyebanji said “composition of new boards will be announced at a later date”.

    According to him, government appreciates members of the dissolved boards for the services they had rendered to the state
