...The Information Technology graduate would have embarked on National Service in January, 2026

These are not the best of times for the family of the Publisher of Freedom Online newspaper, (www.freedomonline.com.ng), Pastor Gabriel Akinadewo, as his son, Washington Oluwagbenga, has died, aged 21.

Freedom Online reported that the rising star, who just completed his university education at a private university in Lagos, died on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at a private hospital in Lagos after a brief illness.

Born on October 3, 2004, Washington Oluwagbenga Akinadewo was preparing to proceed on his mandatory one-year national youth service programme, (NYSC) when death struck.

Washington Oluwagbenga, who read Information Technology, has since been buried.

The Crest mourns the untimely eclipse of this rising star. With his demise, death has robbed Nigeria, indeed, the world a tech genius who could have contributed to lifting humanity by providing enduring solutions to critical issues of development through his expertise.

We, at The Crest, pray that the Almighty God will comfort his bereaved parents, wipe their tears, and granted the departed perfect peace.
