BOLD! Teacher Corrects Trump’s ‘Appalling English’
BY TAIWO FAROTIMI
It is not the first time that commentators have had to raise issues about mistakes in the grammar of write ups from the Donald Trump’s White House . But the latest somewhat puts the seat of government in America to ridicule.
It came in the form of a White House-letter corrected by a retired teacher of the English language. Yvonne Mason, who lives in retirement in Atlanta after teaching the language for 17 years had corrected and sent back a letter to her from the White House. She described the letter, which had President Trump’s signature as “stylistically appalling”, adding, “If it had been written in middle school, I’d give it a C or C-plus. If it had been written in high school I’d give it a D”.
While insisting that the letter did not address her concern in a letter she had written to the president following the shooting in a Florida school, Ms Mason said any letter coming from such an exalted office would be expected to be “at least technically correct “.
Mason then corrected the letter and sent it back to the White House. Hers would not be the first time that concerns have been raised about mistakes in grammar coming from the Trump presidency. For instance, the president is often mocked for spelling errors in his twitter messages, like writing “rediculous” or even making mistakes with his predecessor’s first name. He often writes “Barrack”.
