A tragedy was reported today at the Great Mosque of the holy city of Mecca.
The yet to be identified man was said to beaten the Mosque security to it by climbing to the roof top, where he jumped to his death.
The authorities are surprised that he could escape the prying eyes of security men who last year succeeded at stopping a similar attempt by a Saudi man who tried to set himself on fire in front of the Kaaba. They will also be investigating how he could successfully commit the act despite the security wire in place to check even accidental fall.
Though he was rushed to the hospital, it is believed that he may have died before he was picked up by officials.
However, officials have launched into an investigation “to determine the victim’s identity, what led to the act and how he was able to commit it despite the existence of a metal fence.”
