COVID-19: Lagos Issues Guidelines for Eateries, Restaurants Operations

Lagos State Government has given guidelines to help curtail the spread of coronavirus for the operation of restaurants and eateries or the operators risk heavy sanctions for failing to adhere to the guidelines.

The guidelines, according to the Special Adviser to the Governor on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr Solomon Bonu, are to help forestall the spread of coronavirus.

In a statement released on Wednesday, by Solomon Bonu, restaurants are to open between the hours of 9 am and 7 pm.

He added that there was no room for customers to sit and eat in the restaurants, rather, take-away packs were to be given.

Bonu also stated that all activities would be monitored closely by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture.

“He said the ministry has set up a task force to monitor, arrest and prosecute erring facilities for non-compliance, saying comprehensive guidelines will be issued and made available to the operators.

“While maintaining that hotels, bars and clubs remain shut until the state government decides otherwise, Bonu revealed that as part of the new guidelines, employees of restaurants and eateries are now required to wear face coverings and gloves at all times, adding that such coverings must be cleaned or replaced daily,” the statement said.
