Ekenze: Swearing in Ceremony Stopped

A High Court in Owerri, Imo State has stopped the swearing in ceremony of Callistus Ekenze, as the new deputy governor for the state. Ekenze’s name was swiftly sent to the state house of assembly on Monday shortly after Eze Madumere was removed under controversial circumstances. Ekenze has been the Head of Service prior to his selection, by Governor Rochas Okorocha, for the job.

 

Court stops Okorocha’s choice for deputy governor

The legislature had announced the impeachment of Madumere despite a court order stopping it from continuing with the process.
Madumere’s lawyers returned to the court Tuesday to report the violation of the earlier ruling and asked for the stoppage of the swearing in of Ekenze whose nomination was given speedy consideration by the legislators.
Reports say Miletus Nlemadim, the state attorney general announced the court decision at the gathering for the swearing in ceremony. As soon as he did, guests already seated at the Sam Mbakwe expanded Exco Chambers of the Government House in Owerri, venue of the ceremony , dispersed from the event.
