NIMC Workers in Lagos Embark on Strike

Members of staff of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) in Lagos State, on Thursday gone on strike.

According to reports from Channels Television, the NIMC workers have refused to work citing government insensitivity to their health and welfare.

Several residents were seen at the premises of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) office in Alausa, to get their National Identification Number (NIN) registration done, but were met with workers unwilling to carry out the exercise.

The recent increase in the number of people scuttling to have their NIN registration done could be one of the reasons why members of staff of the NIMC decided to embark on a strike.

Speaking to Channels TV, one staff explained that the staff needed to be said more and be protected against the current variant of the coronavirus, as they have not been given any form of protective kits, considering that they attend to hundreds of people on a daily.
