There are unconfirmed reports that the thunderstorm that accompanied the heavy downpour which pounded Ekiti State on Monday left no fewer than 23 cows dead.
The owner of the dead animals, Abdullah Kadiri, a cattle herder, disclosed this to The Crest on Tuesday.
That is not all. The storm also left various awkward relics of devastation in its trail especially at Ijero Council area of the state.
The incident, which occurred at Okeowa Eluju, a farmstead in Iloro-Ekiti, Ijero Council area, also spread fear and panic across the state.
Kadiri, a Fulani of Ilorin descent, described the incident as a strange occurrence.
He said: “I went to farm after about six hours after the heavy downpour of Monday morning only to discover that 23 of my cows had died. There was no trace of bodily injuries on the dead cows. I want to believe it is an act of God since I did not offend or quarrel with anyone.”
The herder, who hinted that he was born into the business, however, said he had never experienced such in his 35 years.
The Regent of the community, High Chief Joseph Alofe, also described the incident as strange, even as he called on well-meaning Nigerians to assist the herder to revive his business.
The community leader described Kadiri as a gentle and peace loving businessman.
The Crest was unable to independently confirm the death of the cattle as at the time of filing this report.
