TEARS,AS FAYOSE LEAVES EKITI

Outgoing governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose left the state on Sunday amid tears and emotional utterances and farewell from his admirers as his car drove through the streets enroute Akure Airport. Fayose, clad in a T-shirt and jean trousers climbed through the open-roof of his Lexus jeep carrying a board with inscription, “Ekiti-Kete, Thank you all and Good bye.”

Mrs Feyisetan Fayose, wife of the outgoing governor, has said that her husband will come back to Ekiti State a triumphant man.The outgoing governor’s wife, who spoke on Sunday at a thanksgiving service in Fayose’s honour at the Ekiti State Government House, Ado Ekiti, said: “We are coming back, I don’t know how, but I have 200 per cent assurances”.

In an emotion laden voice at the service, the outgoing governor thanked the people for their support for him in office and urged them to trust in God for a better future for him and the state.

Fayose said he was leaving a contented and fulfilled man, adding: “I’m contented, I’m happy and I say thank you. Don’t be disparaged, don’t worry about me, I will come back. I will rise to the glory of God. I have enjoyed uncommon grace; I will never complain but thank God.”

At the service, he told Hon Kolawole Oluwawole who was impeached as speaker of the state House of Assembly on Thursday by 14 members of the state legislature to concede defeat.

Fayose said: “I don’t want you to trouble your mind, there won’t be testimonies without battles. Go and concede defeat in the overall interest of Ekiti. You were removed illegally, but let God fight for you.”

The outgoing governor, whose tenure will expire by midnight of Monday, has said he would visit the Abuja headquarters of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday over the finances of the state under his watch.
