Drama As Fayose Storms EFCC, Boasting ‘I’m Not Coward’

CHIMAOBI UCHENDU

Mild drama ensued at the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) office in Abuja Tuesday afternoon as former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, stormed the place will a retinue of Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP} bigwigs and sympathizers.

Fayose has been accused of financial malpractices while in office by the anti-graft agency and literally declared the Ekiti governor wanted even while he was still covered by immunity.

But he made good his resolve to submit himself to the EFCC for probe on Tuesday at exactly 1.00 p.m. few hours after his time in office as governor ended on Monday. He restated his position to submit himself on Tuesday, boasting that he was not a coward and would not run away.

Fayose arrived the EFCC office in the company of Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and the former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode. He was spotted wearing black T-shirt with the inscription: EFCC; I’m here, I am here in line with my promise that I will be here on 16th of October, and like I said to EFCC, they should await my arrival. This morning, they have been to my house which I think is unnecessary.

Fayose had spoken on Monday at a dinner organised for him by the PDP in Abuja. Saying: “Tell them at the Villa my name is Ayodele Fayose, Peter the Rock.  By the Grace of God, I will be at the EFCC by 1 p.m. I am not a coward.

“Let it be said to them that today is their own, tomorrow is our own. I will not run away, they will rather run away. They took me to Court 13 years ago, I won after eight years.

“They harassed my family and I got judgment three times against them. This time will not be an exception. Those who wait for me will wait in vain. EFCC is no court.”

EFCC is yet to issue a statement on Fayose’s visit.
