June 12: Ikale Heritage Congratulates Tinubu, Sanwo-Olu, Other Heroes of Democracy
The Chairman of Ikale Heritage Development Association, Otunba Sola Olatunji has congratulated Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu,President Muhammadu Buhari and other heroes of Democracy in Nigeria as the nation celebrates June 12 on Saturday.
Describing June 12 as watershed in the political history of the country, Olatunji praises the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government for recognizing the late Bashorun MKO Abiola whose blood and flesh were used as fertilizer to nurture democracy in Nigeria as the winner of the June 12,1993 presidential election stressing that the contributions of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu was also germane.
Olatunji spoke about the supreme sacrifice MKO and other martyrs made after the annulment of the June 12 election by the Gen Ibrahim Badamasi Babanga military regime saying: “I salute the martyrs and heroes of democracy in Nigeria, heroes who paid the supreme price for a united and prosperous country.
“Their sacrifice is the seed that enables us to enjoy some air of freedom in our country today. Although ours can’t be said to be true democracy yet; it’s obvious that we are on the right track. I am convinced that before long, Nigeria will achieve the ultimate democracy of our dreams.”
Olatunji congratulates all Nigerians urging them to rededicate their energy towards achieving a peaceful and secured nation.
The chairman uses the occasion of the June 12 celebration to thank Babajide Sanwo Olu, the governor of Lagos State who ‘is working hard every day to deliver dividends of democracy to Logosians’.
He particularly thanked the governor for the friendly relationship he courted with the Ikale people in Lagos.
“The relationship has grown to an unimaginable level,” he said while praying that his dream of achieving the smart city status will become a reality.
The Chairman also spoke so much about the good works Rotimi Akeredolu SAN is doing in Ondo State saying these are in tandem with the purpose of the June 12 struggles.
