Two officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, who had been earlier found guilty of receiving bribes from Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, a former Petroleum Resources Minister, to compromise the 2015 general elections, have been sentenced to jail.
They are Christian Nwosu, a former INEC Administrative Secretary in Kwara State, and Tijani Bashir, another former INEC official.
The two officials will spend the next seven months in jail.
Both men were convicted of benefiting from a sum of $115.01million that Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, paid to several people towards compromising the 2015 general election.
On Thursday, Justice Mohammed Idris of the Federal High Court, Lagos, had convicted Nwosu for collecting N30million from the Diezani largesse.
