Osinbajo Survives Another Helicopter Crash

...Second in seven months

For the second time in seven months, the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, escaped death through a chopper crash on Saturday.

The helicopter conveying him crash-landed in Kabba, Kogi State on Saturday. But, mercifully, Laolu Akande, the Vice President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, said his boss was safe and no one was hurt in the incident.

Confirming the incident in a tweet, Akande said: “VP Osinbajo’s chopper crash lands in Kabba, but he and the entire crew safe. He is continuing with his engagements and plans for the day in Kogi State.”

Saturday’s incident was the second near chopper mishap the Vice President has escaped within seven months.

The first was on June 7, 2018, when the chopper conveying Osinbajo from the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College, Gwagwalada in Abuja, was forced to land, few seconds after take-off.

He had attended the graduation ceremony of Senior Division Course 1 /2018 in the school. And after the ceremony, the VP’s chopper failed to muster enough power for take-off beyond tree level. It emitted thick smoke and landed on the same spots few seconds after-off.

Like Saturday’s incident, Osinbajo continued the college by road.
