Air Force disowns crashed copter
…Says: Chopper in crash video gone viral in social media not ours
As if to fulfill all righteousness and wash itself clean in the matter, the Nigeria Air Force, NAF, on Sunday, issued a disclaimer on the chopper conveying Vice President Yemi Osinbajo which crash-landed in Kabba, Kogi State, on Saturday, saying the Augusta AW139 Helicopter “neither belongs to NAF nor part of the 011 Presidential Air Fleet.”
NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, made the disclaimer in a press statement issued in Abuja on Sunday.
“NAF wishes to state categorically that the helicopter that crashed in Kabba does not belong to NAF or 011 PAF,”Daramola said in the statement. “The owners/operators of the civilian helicopter, Messrs Caverton Helicopters, have already issued a statement on the matter.
“In addition, the military Dauphin Helicopter, painted in desert camouflage colour, seen in the video circulating on social media does not belong to NAF and should not be misrepresented as belonging to NAF. Accordingly, the general public is advised to disregard such erroneous information and the misleading video.”
