PDP Condemns Ganduje’s Kano Stadiums’ Shutdown

The Peoples Democratic Party, on Wednesday, decried the closure of stadiums in Kanos State, in a bid to stop it holding campaign rallies in the state.

The closure of the stadiums was ordered by Governor Umar Ganduje in order for some renovations works to be done in the stadiums.

PDP’s presidential rally had been scheduled to hold in the state on February 10, while, the renovation is expected to end on February 18, two days after the presidential elections.

PDP in a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary and Director of Media/Publicity, Kola Ologbodiyan and shared on their verified Twitter handle, said, “Very importantly, the PDP calls on the National Peace Committee to note the infractions by the All Progressives Congress and its leaders to the peace accord, including the provocative shut down of all the stadia in Kano state by governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, in order to frustrate the PDP.”

The party went on to threaten to pull out of the peace accord if the listed infractions were not addressed.

“After due consideration of comments, threats and incendiary actions by the APC  and Muhammadu Buhari which are directly inimical to a peaceful, free and fair election, the PDP is left with no option than to consider a review of its signatory in the National peace accord.”
