The Garrison Commander, 33 Artillery Brigade Command, Colonel Mohammed Barack, has been shot dead by suspected bandits on the Magama Gumau road in Bauchi, it was reported Monday.

Craving anonymity, a senior officer at the brigade command disclosed that the tragic event happened on Sunday night as the deceased Garrison Commander was returning to the Bauchi State capital from Kaduna on his power bike.

The bike was said to have developed some fault when the gunmen reportedly pounced on the officer as he stopped to check what the problem was.

Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Sagir Musa, could not confirm the incident at press time but insiders said investigations had started.
