Name Terrorism Sponsors, Ajulo Challenges Buhari

...Reacts to Independence Day Speech

Abuja-based lawyer and rights activist, Dr Kayode Ajulo, has appraised President Muhammadu Buhari’s Independence Broadcast, and tasked him to name and shame  all the sponsors of terrorism in Nigeria.
Buhar had, during the broadcast on Friday, told the nation that investigations by his administration had identified some high profile Nigerians, including a member of the National Assembly, as financiers of the leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB,  Nnamdi Kanu, and Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo (Igbogho).
“We are vigorously pursuing these financiers including one identified as a serving member of the national assembly,” Buhari said.
But  in a swift reaction, Ajulo, a former National Secretary of the Labour Party, LP, challenged the administration to unveil, arrest and prosecute all identified sponsors of terror in the land..
“The sponsors must be named, apprehended and made to face the full weight of the law,” Ajuloa said in a release.
“We need to name and deal with them accordingly, within the ambit of law,” he continued.
“Since the inception of this administration, the citizenry has been assured of government’s utmost attention to security, which the Federal Government has vigorously pursued.
“We need to be reassured,  hence the need to name and deal with terrorism sponsors  accordingly ,” he said.
He said  security agencies must be assisted by all to dominate the nation’s security space against invasion by terrorists and other criminals.
Reacting to the  president’s pledge to expand opportunities for more youths,’ Ajulo said:
“It is also expected that youths must be engaged as there lies the present and future of the nation.
“Youth interventions  should  be  all encompassing and  a holistic engagement is urged,  as a solution to Nigeria’s  security and economic challenges.”
I the broadcast, the President had said: “The youths of this great country remain propellants for our today and provide guarantees that we will have a secure tomorrow.
“It  is for this reason that I remain focused on expanding opportunities for their participation in politics and governance.
“Recent appointments of young people into positions of authority and their track record so far, gives me confidence that we need to bring more of them into governance, and this I promise to do.”
