Police arrest 2 over murder of new UNILAG medical graduate

The Lagos State Police Command, confirmed Friday, that it arrested two persons over the killing of a medical graduate of the University of Lagos, Dr. Stephen Urueye, at the Idi-Araba area of the metropolis on Thursday.

Dr. Urueye graduated from the university only 24 hours before he met his tragic end. He was one of the graduates that participated in the school’s just ended convocation.

He was stabbed and robbed by some bandits along Ishaga road, Idi-Araba, and was rushed to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH, where passed on Friday morning.

His death provoked a protest by students of the university, Friday, who demanded justice for their dead colleague.

However, the Lagos State Police Command, in a swift response to the attack, announced, Friday, that it had arrested two suspected masterminds of the murder.

The suspects, Gbadebo Jimoh and Malik Adeboye, who were arrested, on Friday, by operatives from the Itire division, were said to have specialised in snatching phones, money and other valuables in the Idi-Araba area, where the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) is located.

Both suspects have been transferred to the state criminal investigation department, SCID, Yaba, Lagos.
