Malam Tukur Mamu, publisher of Desert Herald, and self-acclaimed Kaduna Train hostage negotiator, was, Wednesday, taken into custody by the Department of State Services, DSS, shortly after he arrived Nigeria through the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano.
Dr. Peter Afunanya, Public Relations Officer of the DSS, disclosed this in a press release he issued in Abuja on Wednesday, stating that Tukur Mamu, also the spokesman of fiery Islamic cleric, Sheik Ahmad Gumi, was taken into custody because he has “to answer critical questions on ongoing investigations relating to some security matters in parts of the country.”
Dr. Afunanya revealed that Mamu’s arrest and subsequent repatriation by the Egyptian authorities was sequel to “a request by Nigeria’s Military, Law Enforcement and Intelligence Community to their foreign partners to bring back Mamu to the country…”
The DSS spokesman assured that “The public may wish to note that the law will appropriately take its course.”
