In Kano State, wife, 15, gives husband, 33, rat poison

The police, in Kano State, have arrested a 15-year-old housewife, Hassana Lawan, of Bechi Village, in Kumbotso Local Government Area for allegedly poisoning her husband.

Abdullahi Haruna, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP, and Public Relations’ Officer, PPRO, for the Kano State Police Command, confirmed the incident in a statement issued in Kano on Tuesday.

The PPRO disclosed that the teenage wife allegedly laced her husband’s with rat poison, ostensibly with the intent to kill Sale Abubakar, the tragic spouse, aged 33.

Haruna, in the statement, revealed that on Tuesday, April 16, at about 2 p.m., his command received a report that the suspect gave her husband (Abubakar) food with rat poison.

And that the victim was rushed to the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital,Kano, for treatment.

The PPRO said the command had commenced investigation into the matter and the suspect would be charged to court as soon as the investigations are completed.
