Presidency Defends Buhari’s UK Trip

Some Nigerians who have been in a huff over President Muhammadu Buhari’s private visit to the United Kingdom on Thursday may have to listen to the Presidency as special adviser to the President  on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina  has declared that the President can’t be queried over what he does with his private time.

The Presidential aide, featured  on ‘Politics Today’, a programme by Channels Television,where he said  that President Buhari is free to use his private trip for whatever pleases him.

Adesina further stated that those who believe the President went for a medical checkup in the UK are free to believe whatever they want.

Adesina said: “Those who want to interpret everything, those who want to believe all things should just believe that it is a private trip. When a man goes on a private trip, he has the right to use his time the way he deems because he has the right to private time.

“So those who want to believe it’s a medical trip, they have the right to believe, if it pleases them and makes them happier”.

President Buhari’s 10-day trip to the United Kingdom on Thursday has been greeted with hue and cry from certain quarters but according to the Presidency, the President is entitled to having private visit to wherever he chooses.

The President is expected back in Nigeria on May 5.
