Imo State Ex-Gov Okorocha Escapes Death as Gunmen Raid His Home
Trouble must have started for the former governor of Imo State Rochas Okorocha. Barely 72 hours after he stepped down as governor of the state, it has been reported that dare-devil gunmen raided his home located in Ogboko, Ideato South Council Area of Imo State.
Okorocha who has been placed under surveillance by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over sundry allegations of misappropriation of state funds was apparently not in the residence when the gunmen struck.
According to reports, the attackers are suspected to be hired assassins, as they arrived the ex-governor’s residence at about 2 am and overpowered the security guard before gaining entrance into the main building..
Okorocha’s bedroom and other places were thoroughly ransacked, raising suspicion that the invaders gave themselves out as hired assassins.
This is coming two days after the Akachi tower, one of the monuments built by the former governor, was demolished allegedly on the orders of the State Government.
