Rape allegations: COZA cancels 7-Day yearly programme
Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, COZA, Pastor Abiodun Fatoyinbo, says the Holy Spirit has spoken to him to cancel a seven-day special programme of the church tagged “Seven Days of Glory”.
Speaking when he mounted the pulpit in Abuja on Sunday, Pastor Fatoyinbo told the congregation that he was unhappy about the scandal rocking his church insisting that the allegation was not only spurious but also a lie from the deepest pit of hell.
The programme, which usually begins every July 1 and holds for seven days, has attracted several international pastors like Bishop T.D Jakes and Creflo Dollar in the past.
Fatoyinbo said his mentors and leaders had advised him to cancel the programme.
He said he didn’t want to put the guest preachers through the stress of coming to COZA amid such allegations of rape.
The pastor was hailed by hundreds of congregants who yelled, “we love you, pastor”.
Fatoyinbo said his “elders” were handling the matter even as he said he was not happy with the huge deployment of security agents in the church.
Mrs. Busola Dakolo, the wife of popular musician, Timi Dakolo, had on Friday accused Fatoyinbo of raping her 20 years ago.
The allegation caused a storm over the weekend with groups calling for the arrest of Fatoyinbo while some of his supporters have stayed by his side.
The COZA founder has, however, denied all the allegations levelled against him.
