Nigerian-born Olayinka joins Arsenal Team A
Nigeria’s soccer prodigy and Arsenal whiz kid, James Olayinka has been elevated by the Arsenal Team A handland to the main team.
The Gunners’ regular players are yet to report for pre-season training as Olayinka is taking special delight in the chance to prove his talent.
Olayinka is expected to line out under the wily eyes of Arsenal coach, Unai Emery for a week, after the Spanish gaffer invited the Nigerian-born main team to train with The Gunners’ main team at London Colney.
The 18-year-old Olayinka, who signed his first professional contract with Arsenal in January 2019, twelve years after he joined the club, had a fine season last time out, during which he played in the Premier League 2, EFL Trophy, FA Youth Cup, U18 Premier League and U18 League Cup.
Though a defensive midfielder, Olayinka, who also trained with Arsenal’s main team as a first-year scholar in November 2017, scored his first goal for for the club in a 7-0 demolition of Leicester City U18 in August 2018.
He was also included in the first team’s roster to a warm weather camp in Dubai, United Arab Emirates in March this year.
