The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, has expressed shock at the death of the former General Overseer of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria, Rev. Dr. Wilson Adebogun Badejo, who died in Lagos yesterday at 74.
In a statement, PFN President, Bishop Francis Wale Oke, described Dr. Badejo as a totally committed and forthright man of God who served his Maker with the last fibre of his being, and left worthy legacies.
Bishop Wale Oke described the sudden demise of Dr. Badejo, a former Vice President of PFN, as most shocking not only to the PFN and Foursquare, but Christendom in general
He said that while alive, the former General Overseer of the Foursquare Church gave his all to the service of the Lord and this prompted a rapid and effective spread of the gospel of Jesus Christ to all nations of the world.
Bishop Wale Oke, also the presiding Bishop of the Sword of the Spirit Ministries, Ibadan, Oyo State, described Badejo’s passing as painful and shocking, but stressed that the extraordinary life he lived would constitute a veritable challenge to the living.
“Rev. Dr. Wilson Badejo was a strong-willed man who pursued righteousness till he breathed his last,” the PFN boss said. “For everyone, death is a garb that will be worn by all at the appointed time. Though humanly speaking, one wouldn’t have wanted him to go now, however, God is the ultimate decider…”
Oke then reiterated that death should a constant reminder that nobody born of a woman would live forever. Despite this, the PFN boss lamented, many people in the society still behave as if they would never taste death; they behave as if they would never leave the planet earth.
“In the case of Reverend Badejo,” Oke continued, “our joy and solace are that having fought a good fight of faith, he has gone to rest with our Lord Jesus Christ. And that’s what every Christian should work towards and crave for.”
The PFN President commiserated with the family, the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria, and the body of Christ in the country, praying God to grant everyone the fortitude to bear Badejo’s transition to glory.
