Ikengboju Gboluga Vs Albert Akintoye: Olanipekun, SAN, Describes Ondo Tribunal Judgement as Judicial Heresy

Constitutional luminary, Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN, representing Gboluga Ikengboju at the Court of Appeal in Akure Friday described the judgement of the Ondo State Election Petition Tribunal on the House of Representatives tussle between Ikengboju and Akintoye in Okitipupa and Irele Federal Constituency as judicial heresy.

Chief Olanipekun and Eyitayo Jegede both represented Ikengboju Gboluga and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) respectively at the Appeal Court , Akure Division.

The appeal is to challenge Election Tribunal judgement that sacked Ikengbolu Gboluga on the grounds of his dual citizenship of Nigeria and Britain.

Chief Wole Olanipekun took the Election Tribunal judges to the cleaners by describing the judgment delivered by them as judicial heresy.

Olanipekun further averred that all the children born in Nigeria and later taken abroad by their Nigerian parents would forfeit the constitutionally guaranteed right to contest election if the judgement delivered by the Election Tribunal is allowed to stand.

The legal luminary also added that the Deji of Akure who holds dual citizenship of United States and Nigeria may even be told to forfeit his throne if the dubious judgement is ever allowed.
