Nigeria’s COVID-19 Cases Hit 73,175 as NCDC Confirms 418 New Cases

The overall COVID-19 Infections in Nigeria has risen to 73,175 with the confirmation of 418 new cases by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

The new cases were reported on Sunday from 16 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Statistics from the NCDC showed that Nigeria, within three days, from Friday, December 11, to Sunday December 13, recorded 1,831 cases of COVID-19.

The numbers are as follows: Friday – 796, Saturday- 617 and Sunday – 418.

Meanwhile, the NCDC said on Sunday that it recorded three fatalities to bring the total number of deaths from the Coronavirus to 1,197.

An update published by the health agency on its website on Sunday, showed that 240 persons were discharged from treatment centres across that country.

It said Sunday’s discharges included 74 community recoveries in Kaduna State, 49 in Lagos State, 29 in Abia State and 20 in Plateau State managed in line with guidelines.

The update read thus: “On the 13th of December 2020, 418 new confirmed cases and 3 deaths were recorded in Nigeria.

“Till date, 73,175 cases have been confirmed, 66,090 cases have been discharged and 1,197 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

“The 418 new cases are reported from 17 states- Lagos (113), FCT (86), Abia (47), Kaduna (39), Rivers (27), Katsina (22), Benue (14), Oyo (13), Kano (12), Enugu (8), Edo (7), Imo (7), Bauchi (6), Ebonyi (6), Ogun (6), Ondo (4), and Nasarawa (1).”
