I never ordered any demolition-Emeka Ihedioha, Imo Gov.

Governor Emeka Ihedioha of Imo State, on Thursday, denied ordering the demolition of one of the Akachi towers, one of the monuments erected by his predecessor, Rochas Okorocha..

Coming barely 24 hours after Ihedioha assumed office, the demolition shocked many people, especially Imo indigenes, who saw the action as bad politics as the structure was built with tax payers’ money.

There were fears too, Thursday, that more of monuments built by Okorocha may be brought down.

But The Nation newspaper reported that the new governor may be oblivious of the destruction, going by the words of Steve Osuji, who the paper described as Ihedioha’s Special Adviser.

According to newspaper, Osuji said the governor was unaware of  any demolition and neither did he give any instruction to that effect.

Osuji was reported to have said that Governor Ihedioha was in the Government House in Owerri, the capital, trying to settle down to business.
