The Supreme Court, Wednesday, put paid to former President Atiku Abubakar’s dream to kick President Muhammadu Buhari out of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, and be sworn-in in his stead as winner of the February 23, 2019 presidential election.
Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad, leading six other members of the apex court, dismissed the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Atiku Abubakar, its presidential candidate in the election.
Delivering the three-sentence judgement which nailed Abubakar’s ambition in perpetuity, Justice Muhammad said that having read all the documents and exhibits filed in the case for two weeks, the panel came to the conclusion that the application lacked merit.
The apex court, however, deferred giving reasons for its verdict to a yet-to-be announced date. All members of the panel approved the decision.
