Hurricane Finitiri! Demotes Perm Secs, Scraps Office of Dep. Perm Sec

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State, Wednesday, demoted some Permanent Secretaries with immediate effect.

Fintiri dropped the bombshell, in Yola,, the capital, while receiving the report of the Technical Committee for Evaluation of the Civil Service Scheme in the state. “All Permanent Secretaries who were not on level 17 before their appointments are here by dropped,” he declared.

“Government will also gradually phase out the office of Deputy Permanent Secretaries, as the office is not enshrined in the scheme of Civil Service.”.

The Governor expressed concern that the civil service scheme in the state had been bastardized to favour a few; saying that his administration would do all it could to restore the glory of the scheme.

The governor also directed that the embargo on employment be partially lifted promising that the government would soon recruit young talents in areas of needs.

Fintiri also announced that a committee would soon be constituted to come up with a white paper on the recommendations of the technical committee to pave the way for their implementation.

However, it was not clear at press time whether the fate that befell the demoted permanent secretaries would also affect the Head of Service.
