Kidnappers Strike Again in Adamawa; Abduct Director, School Principal, 3 Others

Five persons, including a director of litigation in the Adamawa State Ministry of Justice, Mr. Samuel Yaumande, a school principal, and three others, have been kidnapped in Adamawa State by some yet-to-be-apprehended gunmen.

Yaumande was reportedly abducted from his residence in Sengere, a suburb of Yola, at about 11p.m.
Suleiman Nguroje, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP, also the Public Relations Officer for the Adamawa State Police Command, confirmed the sad incident to journalists in Yola, the capital, on Tuesday.

Nguroje said the kidnappers “quietly made their way into Yaumande’s residence and abducted him, while his family members watched helplessly.”

He lamented that though his organisation responded promptly to a distress call on the abduction, the kidnappers had escaped with their victims when detectives arrived the scene.

Nguroje also disclosed that the kidnappers were armed to the teeth when they stormed the area to perpetrate their nefarious act, taking away the director, a school principal and three others; all on the same day.

The police spokesman, however, assured the families and friends of the victims that his organisation would not only solve the crime, it would also get the hostages freed without any harm to their persons.

Recall that the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the Mubi North Police Divisional Headquarters, Mr. Muhammad Ahidjo, was abducted penultimate week. His abductors, however, released following payment of an undisclosed amount as ransom.
