Guber Elections: Niger State Gov. Sani Bello Commends Electoral Process

Niger State governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for an improved service delivery at Saturday’s Gubernatorial  and House of Assembly elections over the February 23rd elections.

He appluaded the electoral body shortly after casting his votes at Alkali Mustapha Polling Unit in Kontagora, Kontagora Local Government area of the state.

The governor who was accompanied  by his wife, Dr. Amina Abubakar Bello casted their votes at about 10am.

Chatting with newsmen shortly after casting his votes, Gov. Sani Bello commended the improvement in the conduct of the Governorship and House of Assembly elections over the Presidential and National Assembly elections fortnight ago.

He also expressed satisfaction on the level of security at his polling units during the gubernatorial and state assembly elections.

“For this polloing unit, it is perfect and I hope all other polling units will experience the same attention of the level of security protection”.

On the turnout of voters, the Governor said that ” the turn out is a bit low but may be as a result of the timing as most women will have to engage in some house chores. I expect that before 2pm there will be improvement in the the number of voters.” Adding that “at the moment, it is too early to conclude that their is low turnout.”

Also speaking to newsmen, the wife of the Governor, Dr. Amina Abubakar Bello expressed satisfaction in the election exercise.

She said that “women would usually sort out their home before they will have to come out and vote.” Adding that more time should be given before the judgement of low turnout is made.

Electorates are to elect the governor, his deputy and 27 members of the state House of Assembly.
