Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the 2019 presidential election, moved swiftly, on Wednesday, to tackle President Muhammadu Buhari on his purported claim that more Muslims were murdered by the Boko Haram terrorists in their campaign of blood.
The President, on Wednesday, had featured in a Christian news outlet, Christianity Today, where he reportedly punctured the soaring narrative that the insurgents were targeting Christians, declaring that 90 percent of those killed by the terrorists were actually Muslims.
But in a tweet, the same day. Abubakar, a former Vice President, told the President not to rationalise the killings but that the bloodletting by Boko Haram must be roundly condemned.
“We mustn’t rationalise killings,”Atku declared categorically. “Whether Christian, Muslim, Traditionalist, or Atheist, the killing of any human being, by Boko Haram, or any misguided group is wrong and should be condemned unequivocally. There is no compulsion in religion. Only love.”
