Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, was in a state of pandemonium Saturday morning as an explosion suspected to be from a bomb brought down a building adjacent to the Governor’s Office.

Though the explosion caused people to panic and run in every direction, the state police command confirmed there were no casualties.

The State Commissioner of Information and Civic Orientation, Mr. Muyiwa Olumilua, also confirmed the incident.

Governor Kayode Fayemi, who visited the scene, assured residents in the capital that there was no cause for alarm. He was accompanied to the explosion site by the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Amba Asuquo, as well as the Chairman of the Ekiti State Council of Obas, His Royal Majesty, Oba, Ajibade Alabi, who is also the Alawe of Ilawe.

Also, a statement on the official Twitter handle of the Ekiti State Government, revealed the source of the explosion stating that “the Police EOD office in Ado Ekiti exploded this morning.”

“There were no casualties but the impact caused some damage to some government offices in the vicinity of the explosion.”
