Aso Rock Director’s Murder: Police Nab Suspect

...…In Hot Pursuit of Accomplices

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have made an inroad in their preliminary investigation into how Ms. Laetitia Naankang Dagan, an Assistant Director with the  State House, Abuja, was gruesomely murdered in her home shortly after she arrived from work.

The command’s spokesperson, Mr. Anjuguri Manzah, announced in a statement that operatives arrested a male suspect, and were on the trail of his accomplices.

Though the spokesman did not reveal the identity of the suspect, he said the man conspired with others at large to murder the 47-year-old top civil servant.

The arrest, Mansah added, was sequel to a preliminary probe by the criminal investigation department of the force.

The Mansah, in the statement, also, advised members of the public to ignore stories and rumours being bandied in the social media about the high crime in order not to jeopardise ongoing investigation.

Ms. Dagan, 47, an indigene of Plateau State, was murdered by gunmen, Monday evening, in her apartment in the Galadimawa District of Abuja.

She had reportedly left her office in the Presidential Villa, Abuja, at about 8 p.m., and was allegedly killed in her apartment around 11p.m.

The Presidency, in a statement signed by Mr. Atta Esa, Deputy Director of Information, confirmed the tragic incident, quoting the Permanent Secretary, State House, Abuja, Jalal Arabi, as having described the killing of Ms. Laetitia Naankang Dagan, as “a painful loss, not only to her immediate family, but also the entire State House.”

“She was a dedicated, hard-working officer, and we all feel pained by her dastardly and untimely death,” Arabi told her family members during a condolence visit, the statement further revealed.

“We all share in your grief and pains, but be consoled by the fact that she lived a good life and contributed her best to the services of her nation.”

The Permanent Secretary, however, was confident that “the Police will fish out the killers of Laetitia and the law will take its course.”

The Permanent Secretary prayed God Almighty to comfort Ms. Dagan’s family, the entire Staff of State House, and grant the soul of the departed officer eternal rest.
