In Taraba, Police Nab Suspected Child Trafficker With 27 Kids

The Taraba State Police Command has announced that it arrested a  suspected child trafficker, Mary Yakubu, who was caught with 27 children.

The infants were aged between 4 and 7,  and comprised of 14 males and 13 females.

The police spokesman in the state DSP David Misal, disclosed that the kids were intercepted by the police at the Tashan Takalmi area of Gassol Local Government Area.

Misal recalled that, “on the 26/2/2020, one Mary Yakubu was arrested in Bali by the detectives attached to Bali Division Taraba State Police Command  in connection with a case of  suspected child trafficking. During her arrest, she was found with 23 children while making arrangement to convey them to an unknown location.

“Similarly on the 4/3/2020, the suspect led a team of investigation police officers (IPOs) to Mararaban Donga where another 10 children were recovered.

“The recent rescue, which is the third made by the Command,  was on the 5/04/2020 where another 27 children, comprising  of 14 males and 13 females were rescued by the operatives of the Command in Tashan Takalmi area of Gassol LGA.’

The Police spokesperson said that with the arrests, the command  has, in the last two months, rescued 60 children from the suspect while 33 of them have been reunited to their parents.

“All the suspects are undergoing trial in the court of law,” Misal further informed..
