Updated: Fire Guts Accountant-General’s Office in Abuja

There was a fire outbreak on Wednesday at the Treasury House, which sits the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation.

The actual cause of the fire which started at about 10 am is unknown.

According to reports, men of the Federal Fire Service were alerted as soon as the fire broke out, to help in quelling the fire.

They were later joined by officials of the National Emergency Management Agency, the Nigeria Police Force and the Abuja Environmental Protection Board.

the building which is located beside the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, Garki burst into flames earlier this morning with no cause known as at filing this report.

According to the FCT Police Commissioner, CP Bala Ciroma, who held a press briefing at the scene of the incident, said an investigation into the cause of the fire had begun.

Ciroma also said the Ladoke Akintola Boulevard would be restricted to motorists for proper investigations, and as such, alternative routes should be plied.

He also revealed that parts of the building have been badly damaged, but the fire was successfully put out without any casualties.
