Adedibu’s Daughter, Adijat Died of Cancer, Not Coronavirus –Family
The family of the famous strongman of Ibadan politics, Chief Lamidi Adedibu, is miffed over report that the politician’s first daughter, Alhaja Adijat died of the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic in New York, United States.
The family says their daughter did not die of COVID 19 as being rumoured.
Prof Adedibu Aderemi Abass, one of Adedibu’s son in a statement circulating on WhatsApp since Friday dismissed the insinuations.
Prod. Adedibu said the late Adijat had been battling cancer for a while but got worsened recently, leading to her death. She died at the age of 71 in the United States.
“This is to inform the whole world that my Sister Alhaja Adijat Adedibu did not die of COVID 19 as being rumoured,” Prof Adedibu said. “The person that wrote the report did not consult any member of the family but sponsored the publication based on his own volition which i will address in due course after my return to Ibadan from Abuja where i am now on a national assignment.
“Before such information can be published, statement by the family must be issued coupled with the copy of death certificate…this protocol was not followed by the person who posted the news.”
Prof Adedibu, however, appreciates condolence messages and calls from wishers.
