Ogun Increases Health Workers Hazard Allowance By 300 Percent
Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has directed that the hazard allowance for doctors be increased with immediate effect.
This is coming after the Association of Resident Doctors at Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital had last week begun a three-day warning strike to demand for hazard allowance and life insurance packages.
Abiodun, in a statement revealed on Saturday, by his Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin, said the hazard allowances of health workers in the state has been raised from 200 to 300 percent.
The statement read in part, “I want to inform you that we have put in place life policy for our health workers. We would have started immediately, but we will wait to go along with the Federal Government which is also planning similar programme.
“This pandemic is a surprise to everybody. This happened just as we were beginning to roll out plans for a total reform of our health facilities beginning with 236 Primary Health Care Centres. However, I want to assure you that this government is determined to ensure the provision of adequate health care for our people.”
