President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly appointed a new chief of staff. He is Professor Agboola Gambari, a 75-year old diplomat and former minister of external affairs. He was director general of the Nigeria Institute of International Affairs, NIIA.
He has served as an under-secretary of the United Nations and also as special representative of the joint African Union/United Nations for Dafur, Sudan.
A respected scholar, Gambari was appointed the pioneer chancellor of the Kwara State University in 2013.
He is a co-chair of the Albright-Gambari Commission.
The appointment is yet to be officially confirmed.
The last chief of staff, Mallam Abba Kyari died last month of Covid-19.
