Abuse of Police Escorts: Angry IGP Orders Probe of E-Money, Withdraws 6 Policemen

For using six police officers as escorts and domestic servants, the Chairman of the Five Star Group, Emeka Okonkwo, otherwise known as E                                      is to be probed.

Miffed by Okonkwo’s offensive acts, the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mohammed Adamu, ordered probe.

Known for his extravagant lifestyle, and flaunting his wealth wherever he goes, Okonkwo  stirred the hornet’s nest having been abusing the officers by using them as escorts, domestic servants, and to massage his ego publicly by holding his umbrella, opening his car doors for him and performing other chores that contradict the police act.

These flagrant abuse by the self-styled E Money provoked the Police High Command in Abuja as well as the IGP who ordered the Lagos State Police Command to withdraw the six policemen attached to the entertainer with immediate effect.

“We received a signal from the Force headquarters on Monday that the police details of music executive, E-Money, be immediately withdrawn and an investigation into the man be launched,” an officer familiar with the case informed.

He said that the IGP was shocked to his bones when he learnt that the six police details attached to E Money were being used for domestic chores.

“The policemen were discovered to be attached to B Operations at the command headquarters and not MOPOL which is the usual practice. So, we have withdrawn his policemen and we are inviting him for questioning. The policemen will also be interrogated,” said the police source.

In the time being, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana, confirmed the withdrawal of the escorts but said he was not aware of the details.

“It is true that his (Okonkwo’) escorts have been withdrawn and an investigation ongoing. I do not have much information on it,” Elkana said.
