FAAN Hints At Airports Reopening
... Says Strict Guidelines Would Be Followed
The Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, has thrown subtle hints on reopening airports soon across the country for travellers.
The General Manager, Corporate Affairs of FAAN, Mrs Henrietta Yakubu, hinted at the possibility of seeing air travelling on Tuesday while speaking at an aviation webinar organised by Women in Aviation Nigeria
Yakubu revealed that while airports will soon be reopened, safety guidelines that are in line with the standard international practice would be strictly enforced.
She also said there would be flight delays when the airports begin to function again, as checks on travellers would be compulsory at every section of the airport.
She said, “We are going to expect flight delays, flights will experience delays from checks and re-checks. If you are travelling, I will expect a potential traveller to leave home hours before his flight.
“There is going to be a lot of checks in the front of the terminal we have been told that some may activities and procedures will take place in front of the terminal.
“Passengers will subject themselves to temperature screening and departure halls will be arranged in such a way that physical distancing too will be observed.”
According to Yakubu, there would be no allowance of escorts into terminals as a measure to forestall the spread of the virus.
